5 March 2018
ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety was published on 12th March 2018 and OHSAS 18001 has be withdrawn. The organizations which currently certified to OHSAS 18001 will have a three-year period to upgrade to ISO 45001.
In order to support the launch of ISO 45001, BSI Hong Kong has invited different parties in Hong Kong to conduct a focus group session to collect their views and share on Occupational Health & Safety issues. The meeting was successfully held on 5 March 2018 at Island Pacific Hotel.
We are glad to have Ms Ada Fung, Chairperson of Committee on BIM of Construction Industry Council, Mr. C.W Chu Chairman of IOSH, Ms Kate Field, BSI's Global Product Champion – Health and Safety and different OHS experts and specifiers.
The meeting was divided into 3 sessions. It started with a presentation from Ms Kate Fieldon "The world's first global health and safety management system: ISO 45001", followed by the group discussions among 2 groups
Discussion topic 1: "How is the existing Health & Safety management system in your organization, what are the challenging area and improvement area, as well as the expectation on how ISO 45001 could help"
Discussion topic 2: "Other than management system, what else could be done to improve Health & Safety in HK (e.g. BIM PAS 1192-6 for collaborative sharing and use of structured hazard and risk information for Health and Safety? Better quality personal safety equipment?)"
The responses of this meeting are very encouraging. The group facilitators presented their findings and discussions and much useful information were provided from the OHS experts and specifiers.
